Buying an excavator requires substantial investment. Especially when purchasing used machinery, many buyers worry about "good appearance on the surface but breakdowns shortly after delivery." Rather than relying solely on sales descriptions, engage a professional third-party inspection company for on-site factory inspection and machine test runs. As a professional third-party inspection, testing and certification body, Guangdong Huajian Inspection Co., Ltd. fully discloses the complete on-site inspection process for excavators today — what items to inspect, how to conduct tests and inspection methods, helping you purchase with full knowledge and peace of mind.
1. Why conduct on-site factory inspection
An excavator may cost hundreds of thousands to millions. Photos and videos alone are far from sufficient. The purpose of factory inspection and on-site quality inspection is to reveal the machine’s true condition and make its working status quantifiable and verifiable. We provide on-site inspection with real-machine evaluation. All test results are faithfully recorded and communicated to clients. Every test will be performed on-site, with no hidden defects. Negotiate prices after inspection to secure a worry-free deal. This is also the consistent principle for foreign trade inspection and product quality inspection: draw conclusions based on data and test results.
2. Six-step inspection process
The whole inspection follows standard procedures and generally takes half a day to one day: Step 1: Appointment & document verification. Upon arrival at the factory, we verify the machine nameplate, serial number, certificate, purchase documents and other paperwork to confirm consistency of machine information and avoid cloned or reassembled machines. Step 2: Static visual inspection. Examine the whole machine including structural components, body panels and hydraulic pipelines; this is the most intuitive inspection step. Step 3: Startup & idle test. Perform cold start and check whether startup is smooth and abnormal noise exists. Step 4: Movement & performance test. Operate all hydraulic functions one by one to test movement speed and power output. Step 5: Load & travel test. Conduct actual digging and travelling tests to verify real working performance. Step 6: Issue inspection conclusion. Summarize all test data, inform clients of machine condition grade and areas for improvement.
3. On-site test items & inspection methods
Visual and structural component inspection. Check boom, arm, slewing platform, undercarriage and other key structural parts for cracks, deformation or re-welding marks. Inspection method: visual check combined with tapping test. Focus on welding seams and stress-concentrated areas. Use steel ruler and feeler gauge to measure dimensional deviation. Inspect cab, covers, glass and cylinder rods for damage.
Hydraulic system inspection. The hydraulic system is the "vital system" of an excavator. Check hydraulic oil level and quality (color, odor, emulsification), and oil leakage at pipes and joints. After startup, check whether hydraulic cylinders operate smoothly without stalling or abnormal noise, and inspect noise level of hydraulic pumps.
Engine inspection. Check cold-start performance, idle stability and abnormal exhaust including black, blue or white smoke. Inspection method: listen for knocking noise, observe exhaust color, check engine oil, coolant and filter elements. Test engine RPM and load response when necessary.
Movement speed & power test. Operate boom lifting/lowering, arm retraction/extension, bucket tilting, slewing and travelling sequentially. Test whether movement speed meets requirements and eliminate delay or shaking. Inspection method: compare no-load operation and loaded digging test to evaluate coordination of all movements.
Slewing & travelling test. Check whether slewing movement is flexible without jamming or abnormal noise. Verify straight-line travelling and deviation. Inspect track tension, wear of track links, drive wheels, idlers and rollers.
Electrical & safety device inspection. Check dashboard readings, lights, horn, wiper, air conditioner and other accessories. Verify availability and functionality of safety lock, fire extinguisher, emergency stop and other safety equipment.
Load digging test. This is critical to verify actual working capacity. Conduct real digging tests to measure digging force, loading efficiency and slewing speed. Monitor engine performance under load and stability of hydraulic pressure.
4. Service scope: Full-range third-party inspection
Beyond construction machinery inspection, Guangdong Huajian Inspection Co., Ltd. provides third-party inspection service and third-party testing service covering a wide range of foreign trade products: general merchandise & toy inspection service, children’s product inspection, infant product inspection, indoor & outdoor furniture inspection, home goods inspection, household appliance inspection, daily home goods inspection, electrical & electronic product inspection, kitchenware inspection, power tool inspection, medical device inspection, lighting fixture inspection, as well as full inspection for garments and quality control service.
For bulk goods, we adopt AQL sampling standard (AQL sampling inspection) for sampling and professional judgement. We also offer third-party loading supervision, container loading supervision and container supervision for export loading. We provide Amazon inspection and Amazon inspection service for cross-border e-commerce platforms. Our supply chain quality management services include supplier audit, third-party factory audit, third-party audit, supplier quality control, third-party quality inspection and third-party product checking, including special inspection such as Mexico PEO pre-origin inspection.
5. Value of inspection: Transparent transaction & worry-free after-sales
On-site factory inspection is not merely "defect hunting". It helps you understand the real value of the equipment. All inspection findings will be documented truthfully. We will honestly report good conditions and clearly inform you of defects, their impact on operation, repair solutions and estimated maintenance costs. Our commitment: flexible pricing, no concealment of machine condition. After you confirm and purchase the machine upon satisfactory inspection, we also provide comprehensive after-sales support including maintenance guidance, spare parts supply and technical consultation to protect your investment.
